Hi Scot, Your 2k keadphones are probably impedance matched pretty welly to the typical crystal set output and I doubt you could improve volume with a transformer. There is a big variation among headphones for sensitivity with the Moving armature type like Baldwins and sound powered being most sensitive, some magnetic ones like Western Electric 509W being much better than average too. Even the humble Mouser crystal earplug has good sensitivity but tinny sound. Scott
