Thanks for the help, all. I will study B.T's articles more carefully. J.D. I am using two coils, both tanked, both space woound, 24 ga. 1.6" diameter. One for the antenna and ground the other for the detecter. The coils are as identical as I can make. You are right it does not tune as sharp as I would like. I use one conventenal trap in the antenna path and the other is a third identical coil tanked and loose coupled th the others. I keep going back to the idea of using larger forms and bigger wire, I can't seen to cover the whole broadcast band when I do that. In other words, I must sacrifice wither end to get the other, My caps are 10 -350. Is this an often seen problem to need a bigger range in the caps with bigger coils??? thanks again all. Scot
