Hi Michael; Yup, the Badlwin "C"s were considered the most sensitive high impedance magnetic 'phones ever. Next best were the Western Electric W-509s. The only serious competition were the later Brush-Clevite (brand) Piezo crystal element 'phones. All the properly (transformer) matched sound powered balanced armature elements I have tried so far handily beat the Baldy "C"s for both sensitivity and fidelity. These are definitly worth the trouble to find and set up. The downside is the expense of the best matching xformers. There are some pretty good cheaper xformers that can work well, however.
