John - am always interested in variations on design. Am tired of being outbid for ebay parts (usually shouldn't be buying them anyway). Have had an interest in variometer tuning (a dream of an oddball circuit, with variometer first stage, coil/cap second). Details/web sites/formulas/advice/etc for those (memememememe.....) wanting to homebrew a variometer?
