Solder melts at a higher temperature and has been said to damage the Galena (or other mineral) do to the high heat. I have no proof that solder damages mineral, so I have no argument for this one way or the other.I use a material called "Cerro-Bend" that is mostly used for bending very small tubing, then can be easily melted-out when finished. This material has an extremely similar, if not exact, content as "Wood's" metal. The stuff you are referring to will probably work fine. At least it's worth trying and let us know the results. Mike.
