Jim, Correct, solid or stranded of the same gauge will produce essentially the same Q. I have compared solid enamel coated with silver plated stranded teflon coated (both #16) and found a very slight Q advantage with enamel. The difference was not significant enough to make a decision on that alone. Teflon does make it easier to space the turns and it looks nice too.
