This is (a) a rather long post (b) being posted on four boards -- commentary from anyone anywhere (even more than once) is welcome.

The subject is a major multi-turn loop antenna. It's a flat loop, more like a big radius widely spaced spiral. For purposes of this argument, we will use the word "loop".

It is rectangular in the width/length ratio of .62/1. It is not flat. It is bent in the center (like a book opened and lying face down) on an interior angle of 135 degrees (each side drops below the horizontal at about 23 degrees). The loop perimeter is 140 feet. If you haven't figured it out yet, it's the roof of my building.

I'm thinking of a 3-turn loop, 3 inch turn spacing, lying on the roof as described above. That gives me 420 feet or so of wire, which my calculator says is a quarter wave at 585kHz.

Query of the day: Will this work?

Charlie
