Steve -- your idea is somewhat impractical. 1. The dish would have to point at the signal source. For skywave, OK, but for groundwave it has to point right at the station. Someone I know of built a dish for 432Mhz moonbounce, and for a swivel/tilt mechanism he had to use a decommissioned 5-inch cannon from a scrapped Navy destroyer. 2. This thing is gonna be BIG. To function properly, it's scaled to the frequency of operation. Even an 8 foot satellite dish won't do much for you. For AM broadcast, properly scaled, this monster will be something along the lines of a thousand feet across...how much of East Texas did you say you own?
With enough room and height, you can accomplish what you want just with properly spaced and aimed dipole antennas. You're still talking a space maybe 500 feet by 500 feet, but that's better than something so big it has its own zip code.
