Can you stack transformers end to end as a means of achieving the final desired impedance? I've been wool-gathering about this but don't have the transformers to try it out. For example, Mouser has a 20K CT to 1K CT, and a 1K CT to 8 CT. Could I use the 1K output of #1 to directly drive the 1K input of #2? This way I get a 20K to 8 ohm drop for a conventional speaker, or do I lose too much in the translation through 2 transformers?
How about doing it with a stage of push-pull tube-style audio amplification between the transformers? (AF1)-(20K-1K Trans)-(AF2)-(1K-8 trans)-(speaker)
Thanks in advance for any advice the Gang has!

Quite right. Let's not forget the Foxhole radio too. Some wire, an old razor blade, a piece of pencil and headphones (of course) make a radio.
