Tubes with numbers beginning with 7 or 14 are 6 or 12 volt Loctal tubes (respectively).

Hello,

I have purchased some fairly big pieces of galena (lead sulfide) at a mineral show. Each piece weighs several ounces. I would like to use them "as is" in a large cat's whisker detector where the chunk of galena is clamped in a bracket and a cat's whisker wire is applied to the top surface of the galena. Are there any problems in scaling up a cat's whisker detector in this manner to a size several times that of the conventional detector? For example, are there additional resistive losses due to the larger size or is there less loss due to the increased surface area of the detector (skin effect impact)? Thank you for your help with my question.

By the way, the gem and mineral show had lots of galena for sale.
