Hello,

5 kHz is certainly a low frequency. This makes the experimenter's band at 160 kHz to 190 kHz seem like high frequency. Check out the other messages here about sending audio signals directly through the ground. Some of these refer to a Popular Science article in the 1960s about this. I remember a book, The Boy's Book of Radio, or something like that which had a circuit for sending Morse Code signals through the ground.
