Hi..I recently took an avionics exam and one of the questions was....A germanium diode is mostly used as A) Rectifier B) Detector C) Oscillator. I know the diode is a rectifier but I thought it was a trick question because of the .2v volt drop..ie used as a detector. They are also used in oscillator circuits. They are not thermally stable..so silicon is preferred. Any ideas. Thx.
