I own a small shop that winds coils for other small radio shops. My litz experience has been come and go, depending on what you want the set to do. DX? Just Am? You name it? But I have done much experimentation I often make a threaded core fore to spread the wire slightly Untill I got up to 100/44 I absolutly could not get more or less MH differance between hard wire and woven (litz) wire It did however make huge gains in small ferris iron wraps,I have tried in tuning. NO! it is not necessary to scrap off the enamel on # 46 wires Just turn up the heat it will solder beautfully. Most enameled litz are meant to solder well. but it does require more than a 20 watt iron to do a quick and decisive solder joint. Just turn up the gas I often use a small propane pocket torch and the old Wellar in the drawer will work also. Some even have solderalbe sheaths as they have a fluxy finish to them. But I have soldered most with little trouble, but heat is the answer. Also reading the instructions help when 800-1000 deg. is recomended for a short moment. Please end photo of scaraping 100 strands of # 46 for our catologe, I qould call you a true enthusiast!
